Today we begin week three of the Omer with Tiferet (harmony/balance/beauty). Just as “Chesed” is love and kindness, “Gevurah” is discipline, justice, and boundaries. “Tiferet” is the perfect balance of these two which creates mercy.
Truth is Tiferet, the clarity that comes when disparate facts come together, when opposites unite in resolution.
Today we count the 15th day of the Omer with “Chesed shebe Tiferet” (love and kindness within harmony).
This combination of sefirot allows us to give even if the other person doesn’t deserve it. We do it out of compassion and mercy towards the other.
What “Chesed shebe Tiferet” accomplishes is that it brings out the aspect of truth even in the most challenging situations.
Beis Hillel says: “you should tell the husband of an ugly bride that she is beautiful, because she is beautiful in the eyes of her husband.” Tosefos explains this by saying that even an ugly bride has some aspect of beauty about her. By focusing on the beauty we express Chesed shebe Tiferet.
“A small amount of truth will overcome a lot of falsehood, just as a small amount of light pushes away a lot of darkness.”(Chovos Halevavos Shaar Yichud HaMaaseh Ch 5).
Look at the beauty around you. Train your eyes to always look at the good in everything. Make it a point of going more to the side of kindness, for the sake of creating harmony in your life.
