Today we count the 19th day of the Omer with “Hod shebe Tiferet” (humility within compassion) and today we celebrate Israel’s 71st Independence Day.
From the sad and somber day we experienced yesterday, today we switch to a joyful day full of celebration.
The combination of “Hod shebe Tiferet,” is what allows us to transition from these opposite emotions of extreme sadness to extreme joy.
“G-d makes the creation as beautiful as it is efficient. It didn’t have to be that way. Form could have been sacrificed for function. This is G-d’s gift to mankind for us to enjoy. We too can go the extra mile from functional to beautiful, and to emulate G-d’s creation.” (“Sefiros” Rabbi Yaacov Haber)
The reason we are able to go from one extreme to the other is because we can see the purpose of the pain.
Today we celebrate the achievements of a country and its people. From a barren land, the Jewish people have made a desert bloom with love and kindness, discipline, compassion, endurance, humility, and bonding we have brought dignity and majesty to our mother land.
Happy Birthday modern Israel
May you continue to grow “from strength to strength” in Torah and Mitzvot and may we see in our times the day in which we are all one with you and G-d.
